From 2015-2024, Phil Bakken served in numerous capacities for the University of Nebraska System, including chief of staff for Presidents Carter and Bounds; corporation secretary for the Board of Regents; and president of the University Technology Development Corporation.

A native of Fremont, Phil received his bachelor’s degree in economics and master’s degree in business administration from Nebraska Wesleyan University.
